This article seeks to present, contextualize and comment on two dramatic Quito texts from the mid-lS* century, the Baile o sainete del mercachjle and the Entremés del confitero, both belonging to a manuscript signed by Diego Molina. The two texts—one of which has never been published and is therefore totally unknown in the tradition of Spanish-American colonial dramaturgy—represent interesting examples of the Creole theater of the period. The reading seeks to reflect on the content and characteristics of both works in the context of the manuscript to which they belong.
