Un recorrido por los ensayos escogidos de José Antonio Mazzotti sobre el Inca Garcilaso de la Vega

Abstract

In this work, I am interested in highlighting how, based on a broad theoretical framework and the concept of cultural heterogeneity, José Antonio Mazzotti develops those levels of Inca Garcilaso’s work that correspond to the Andean discursive tradition, mainly oral in nature, and to the survival of certain symbols of the Cuzco court, until now less studied than the presence of classical and Renaissance historiography. By recognizing Garcilaso’s dialogue with this dual tradition, he adopted a less conventional approach to the works of the Cuzco writer, particularly the Comentarios reales, which has managed to expand the interpretive field of his works and open new avenues for their interpretation.
