"This article examines the place of Pedro Henríquez Ureña in the construction of Latinamericanism as a scholarly field by focusing on the factors that prompted his appointment as Norton Professor at Harvard at the beginning of World War II. An analysis of hitherto unexplored archival sources related to his stay in the United States—academic lectures, public speeches, press coverage, and personal correspondence—will provide a new perspective on Henríquez Ureña’s involvement in the consolidation of the Good Neighbor policy."
