Violence and Helplessness: The Figure of the Father in Inca Garcilaso's General History of Peru
Keywords:

The present work analyzes the presence and the narrative treatment that Inca Garcilaso gives to his father in the General History of Peru. Faced with the traditional idea that the Inca had built a laudatory image of his father in his history and that this was related to various of the historian’s particular interests, this analysis suggests that the text does not allow reaching those conclusions.
