Geographies in La Florida del Inca: painting terra incognita
Keywords:
Inca Garcilaso, La Florida, geography, landscape, natureAbstract
The difficulty of “painting” an unknown nature at the beginning of La Florida del Inca by Inca Garcilaso de la Vega opens the possibility of analyzing the work from the point of view of literary geography and the construction of Nature and landscape. This topic is approached from the perspective of the observer who stands before what is in the process of being seen or discovered by the Spaniards, as a contribution to the specific studies on La Florida and to those who have raised, in the complete work of the Inca, the theme related to the vision of nature in connection with his knowledge of natural history. This perspective allows approaches on the vision of Inca Garcilaso with respect to the pre-Hispanic peoples as well as linking the constructions of nature with elements of the epic already indicated by critics.
