The challenges of eco-cinema in our Americas: exploring the good life in rebellion-torn lands

Ecocritical research focused on cinema is scarce, nevertheless it is necessary when faced with the phenomenon of new media and increasing production of documentaries, videos, and films on environmental subjects. It is a cinema in the Americas with an ecological consciousness that expresses the relationship between human beings and the natural environment. In this article I will outline some key challenges: the borders opened by the media production of biodiverse communities, and the outreach of this opening as an activation of the ecological imagination, as well as a way of filming the notion “Good Life,” beyond the control of the development and economic growth models.
