This article proposes that Martín Rejtman’s film and literature share the same “aesthetics of inertia.” This aesthetics gives rise to a particular kind of narration that does not follow any rule of causality, but rather is based on its own logic of the unexpected by situating itself in a realm of the becoming. The foundation of this aesthetics lies in its mobility, which is provoked by a concatenation of events that lack a concrete cause or finality. Using this aesthetics of inertia engenders a way to perceive and build a world free from motivations through which Rejtman exhibits his viewpoint of the present.
