This article analyzes the novel Cecilio Chi’, nen óol k’ajlay/Cecilio Chi’, historical novel (2003), by Maya author Javier Gómez Navarrete. The critique focuses on the ontological elements that assemble the text. His configuration is rooted in Maya culture’s bond with maize. On this basis, the novel structures a cosmological model of civilization based on agroecological production. This subordinates economic goals to human dignity and social justice. The cosmological choreographies supporting the textual structure consolidate this new metaphysical understanding of social reality.
