This article proposes a comprehensive reading of Martin Lienhard’s work on orality and writing as well as his textual analysis works that are related to anthropology. Lienhard’s unique contribution can be highlighted based on three elements of relevance to anthropological works: the thematic developments referring to the relationship between orality and writing and the analysis of Quechua texts; his perspective in the use of anthropological concepts associated with culture, particularly in contexts of domination; and, finally, in contributions to the methodology associated with the analysis of rituals as texts and attention to the the legitimacy of the interlocutors.
