Abstract

The poems of Rodrigo Machado, Javier Heraud's pseudonym, express a young revolutionary in Latin America in the sixties, moved by the love for his country and the dream of seeing his land released from U.S. imperialism and the oppression of authoritarian governments. The death of young Heraud, like that of many Latin American revolutionaries, challenges both the ideological project of the revolution and the poetic project of the time. Using the materials and poems published in recent years and the ideas of Foucault about the death of the author, this research seeks to approach the ideological aspect of the poet and his position in regards of the Peruvian and Cuban left parties in order to understand his last poetic project: the poems of Rodrigo Machado.
