La voluntad fundacional del martinfierrismo

This article takes up one of the most frequent debates among Latin Americanist critics: the relationship between the European and Latin American avant-gardes. Based on previous studies (the works of Nelson Osorio, Jorge Schwartz, Gloria Videla de Rivero, among others), our aim is to examine the cultural transfer that takes place between the European avant-garde and the Argentine avant-garde movement, martinfierrismo, in order to elucidate what the latter maintains and/or rejects from the primordial avant-gardes. After analyzing its program, we have deduced that martinfierrismo had a foundational will that contrasts with any avantgarde’s spirit of rupture.
