Una nueva aproximación a El tungsteno

Abstract

This article offers a new look at the context of production and reception of El tungsteno, the proletarian novel by César Vallejo published in Madrid in 1931. An account of the biographical experiences that inspired the plot of the novel is established, a tentative chronology of composition and writing is drawn, and details are given on its publication and printing. In addition, the article provides hitherto unknown information on the Russian and Ukrainian translations of the novel that shed light on the way Vallejo handled his narrative writing.
