Abstract

Like all public intellectuals, Martin Lenhard is beset by multiple dilemmas, roles and challenges. He has to confront the demands driven by the social world, the cultural world and the various systemic environments in which he interacts. In our article, based on Gramsci's writings on the organic intellectual, we highlight the intellectual Martin Lenhard and his research, in particular, his book published in Brazil O mar e o mato: história da escravidão (Congo-Angola, Brazil, Caribbean) (1998).
