Abstract

"This essay addresses the power relationship between the protagonist and her sick brother with AIDS as an allegory of an American neo-colonialist enterprise in Antigua as described in the novel My Brother (1997) by Jamaica Kincaid. Moreover, I argue that medication used for HIV/AIDS is a facilitator of the neocolonial process and is more beneficial to the pharmacological industries and the capitalist system than to the patients themselves."
