"Al mapa le digo no": la imagen de la isla como resistencia al neocolonialismo en la obra poética de Manuel del Cabral

"In his poetry, Manuel del Cabral employs cartographic imagery both to dramatize the incursions of U.S. neocolonialism and to construct images of resistance. Gilles Deleuze’s concept of the writer as a cartographer, who draws new maps in order to resist systems of power, is useful in describing the work of textual resistance that del Cabral develops across multiple collections of poems. The epic figure of Compadre Mon, from the eponymous collection, occupies the center of this activity of symbolic resistance, where the most complex and intense mobilizations of poetic-cartographic anti-colonialism can be found."
