"This article studies three short stories of Mary Grueso Romero, a writer from the Colombian Pacific coastline. This analysis takes into account the critical situation of this territory inserted by force in a very destructive process of globalization. Grueso Romero depicts in her stories the family life of Afro Colombians of the region; she underlines local Negro identities in an affirmative way, in contrast with homogenization processes associated to the discourse of development as an absolute standard of wellbeing."
