Abstract

Although literary critics have called our attention to the self-reflexive, selfconscious and metafictional character of narrative texts, few studies with a similar theoretical focus exist in terms of metapoetics and even less research can be found that delves into the relationship between metapoetics and the sociocultural perspective or historical context. In this article, metapoetic links are established between the Peruvian poets of the Generation of 50 and the function of metapoetics in their works is analyzed in order to determine the relationship between their metapoetry writing and their sociocultural and historical contexts.
