Exile - resistance - avant-garde. Fernando Birri's film ORG (1969/1978)

Abstract

This article evaluates the controversial film ORG by Fernando Birri as part of a crucial moment in the evolution of the New Latin American Cinema. The autor argues that ORG’s proposal incarnates Birri’s ideal of a “cosmunism or cosmic comunism” beyond national and any kind of borders. Birri underlines the need of including diversity as an alternative solution to the post-Apocalyptic chaos that threatens the humankind.
