Nacionalismo criollo y poesía: el caso de Andrés Bello

This article explains the continuity of topics and focalization between colonial poems of exaltation of the grandeur of American landscapes and spirit and Andrés Bello's most famous poems, the "Alocución a la poesía" and "La agricultura de la Zona Tórrida." The essay analyzes Bello's discursive gestures in respect to his criollo ideology and reflects on the prevalence of these Occidentalizing paradigms in the socio-political future of the Hispano-American republics.
