Abstract

This essay examines José Antonio Mazzotti’s poetry by approaching exile not as a biographical incident, but as a poetic, political, and epistemological condition.
Based on the analysis of five of his poetry collections, the study explores how displacement, linguistic hybridity, and ancestral memory shape a transnational poetics of resistance. Drawing from the frameworks of the migrant subject (Cornejo Polar), the “line of flight” (Milán), the “third space” (Bhabha), the “mestiza language” (Anzaldúa), and Edward Said’s concept of exile as a critical vantage point, the essay argues that Mazzotti’s work turns dislocation into a generative site where cultural, ecological, and linguistic forces intersect to question hegemonic narratives and envision new modes of belonging.
