Abstract

In this work I share some brief reflections on poetic texts by three contemporary Peruvian poets “dedicated” to Antigone: Antígona by Jorge Eduardo Eielson (1924-2006), Antígona by José Watanabe (1946-2007) and Las flores de Antígona by Javier Sánchez Torres (1982). The first two are “consecrated” poets, also translated into Italian; the latter, on the other hand, is a younger poet from Lima, in the making, who, however, has already received several literary awards. I analyze the originality of their adaptations in the historical and political context of the Andean country.
