Abstract

Based on archival research in Bordeaux, this article explores the identity of French immigrants in Cuba during the 19th century. It reveals a wide array of origins, but most particularly the presence of an important component of people from the Department of Haute-Garonne, in the central Pyrenees. Their destiny in Cuba is still open to research in Cuban archives.
